Linköping University (LiU), established as Sweden’s sixth university in 1975, is a major public research university with 32,000 students and 4,500 employees. LiU hosts four main faculties (Arts and Sciences, Medicine and Health Sciences, Science and Engineering, and Educational Sciences) and has become known for interdisciplinary education, problem-based learning, and close collaboration with society. Over time, LiU has grown into a broad research university with strong profiles in medicine, technology, natural sciences, social sciences, and the humanities.
Role within AIRIS
LiU contributes to the Steatotic Liver Disease use case in WP5 and to the Multimodal Data Integration, Analysis and Synthesis in WP1. For many years, LiU researchers have conducted significant research on the natural history and prognosis of metabolic and alcohol-related liver diseases. Emphasis has been placed on developing and validating non-invasive methods for diagnosis, risk assessment, and monitoring, including advanced magnetic resonance imaging, elastography, blood-based biomarkers, and the analysis of body composition and sarcopenia.
